Some visual differences of wild shrimp and farmed shrimp
Color:
The majority of farmed shrimp are olivaceous in color, however marine shrimp are pale pink. Naturally, when cooked, both shrimp turn pink.
Veins in shrimps:
There are two veins visible in the shrimp’s body, one in the back that is a part of the shrimp’s digestive system (intestine) and must be removed during the cleaning procedure, and another vein under the belly that is a nerve cord and does not need to be removed. In sea shrimp, only the dorsal vein is visible, however in cultured shrimp, the lower vein is also visible as a result of the cultivation circumstances
